The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services has recently revised the administrative rules and requires two new vaccines for school attendance for students entering Sixth Grade and/or 11years of age. Every child born on or after January 1, 1997 shall receive one dose of a meningoccoccal containing vaccine such as Menactra and one dose of Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis).
These vaccines must be received by December 31st of the year that your child turns 11. Many of the children turn 11 in sixth grade.
Failure to comply with this requirement will necessitate exclusion from school.
